Malvazinky Cemetery (Prague)

A cemetery on the western outskirts of Prague with a space for remembrance in a quieter urban environment. There are over 8,000 graves, over 650 urn graves, 12 chapel tombs and two scattering meadows. The dominant feature is the neo-Romanesque Roman Catholic Church of St. Philip and James, which was completed in 1896. Since 1958, the cemetery and the church have been listed as cultural monuments.

Interesting fact: 

At the main gate to the cemetery there is an early Baroque column with a sundial from 1675. The New Jewish Cemetery adjoins the Malvazinky Cemetery on the west side.

Here you can find the graves of several important Czechoslovak or Czech personalities here. These include, for example, President Antonín Novotný, writers Jakub Arbes, Ondřej Sekora or Egon Bondy, doctor Jan Janský, musician Milan Hlavsa, singers Karel Gott or Eva Pilarová.
