Břevnov Cemetery (Prague)
A quiet place in close proximity to the former monastery in Prague 6, with a history dating back to the 18th century. In the upper part of the cemetery, next to the gate to the monastery garden, stands the Chapel of St. Lazarus (originally dedicated to the Virgin Mary). The paintings inside the chapel, in the eastern part, depict the Last Judgment. Funeral masses and religious services were held in the Chapel of St. Lazarus until the mid-20th century. The current appearance of the Břevnov cemetery has an area of approximately 1.73 hectares, and in addition to the chapel tomb, there are 2,520 graves, 970 urn graves and 880 places in the columbarium.

Interesting fact: The cemetery was founded in 1739 as a burial ground for a Benedictine monastery, and the Chapel of St. Lazarus with its paintings of the “Last Judgment” is a remarkable example of the spiritual and artistic history of the place.
