How to choose music for a funeral?

The first is, of course, the wishes of the deceased and yours. Whether it is individual compositions or styles.
The next step is to think about the place of the last farewell. The ceremony hall is prepared for both recorded and live music. For a ceremony in a church, live music played on the organ or recorded music is most often chosen after consultation with the priest and the possibilities of the church. If the wish for the ceremony is in an unconventional place, it may be necessary to provide speakers. Of course, we will arrange all this so that the ceremony goes according to plan.

Music during the ceremony

Funerals are most often held in funeral halls. In each of them, you can ask for a database of funeral songs that the staff can play from the speakers at a given time. If you choose from individual songs, have samples played before the ceremony. There are often different versions of one song, which may differ from the favorite.

The advantage of reproduced music under the supervision of the staff is that they know the individual songs and have tested that everything will be fine. However, this does not mean that you should not bring your own music to the funeral hall if you cannot find it in their database. The most important thing is to inform the staff in time so that they can prepare everything, set the correct volume and prepare the course of the ceremony according to your ideas.

Live music can mean one musician or a band. The musicians must know not only the songs in advance, but also the appropriate clothing for the mourning event. At the PEGAS funeral service, we will take care of everything.

If the funeral includes a funeral procession from the church or funeral hall to the cemetery, it is usually accompanied by a funeral band. What should a funeral song be like?

Mourning songs often describe the pain and sorrow of the bereaved in their lyrics. But it doesn’t have to be that way. You can choose a favorite song of the person you’re saying goodbye to. Slower pop or rock songs, jazz melodies, or classical music can help set the mood.
