Farewell to Jiří Krampol

On Friday, August 8, 2025, the last farewell to actor Jiří Krampol, who died on July 26 at the age of 87, took place in the Big Ceremonial Hall of the Strašnice Crematorium in Prague. Many friends, colleagues and members of the public arrived at the ceremony to pay their respects and lay flowers at his coffin.

Among those who came to honor Mr. Krampol were, for example, Uršula Kluková, Zuzana Bubílková, Martin Dejdar, Luděk Sobota, Jan Přeučil, Pavel Trávníček, Aleš Cibulka, Michal Jagelka, Václav Upír Krejčí, Josef Fousek, Jiří Paroubek and many others.

During the ceremony, Jiří Krampol was remembered by writer Heda Bartíková and presenter Aleš Cibulka. Musical accompaniment was provided by Felix Slováček, who played for him on his last journey. The farewell ended with a long applause from those present.

Jiří Krampol became famous not only as an actor, but also as a significant figure in Czech dubbing. Many knew him as the “Czech Belmondo”, as he lent his voice to French actor Jean-Paul Belmondo in many films. After the death of František Filipovský, he also took over the dubbing of the character of Louis de Funès. In 2018, he received the František Filipovský Award for his lifetime contribution to dubbing.

He also gained great popularity thanks to his performances with Miloslav Šimek at the Semafor Theatre, where he had worked since 1983. Together they created a number of humorous scenes and stories. Viewers also remember him as the presenter of entertainment shows, such as Nikdo není dokonalý. In his youth, he was involved in boxing and helped as a sparring partner in Žižkov. He also wrote or collaborated on several books in which he shared his experiences and memories.
