Farewell to Alois Švehlík

Alois Švehlík, an acting legend of the National Theatre, died on 2 April 2025 at the age of 85. He was one of the most prominent actors of the scene in recent decades, having joined it in 1988. In addition to the National Theatre, he occasionally guested at other theatres. For his performance in Jandl’s play ” From Afar” at the Na zábradlí Theatre, he received the prestigious Divadelní noviny Award. In August 2024, he was inducted into the National Theatre Hall of Fame for his lifelong acting mastery.
The final farewell to Alois Švehlík took place on Wednesday 16 April 2025 at 11:00 from the stage of the National Theatre in Prague. The public had the opportunity to enter the theatre from 10:30 and lay flowers at the coffin.
