Farewell to František Laurin

On Thursday, August 6, the final farewell was held in the Chapel of St. Wenceslas at the Vinohrady Cemetery in Prague for the theater and film director, teacher and former director of the Vinohrady Theater František Laurin, who died at the age of 91. Family, friends, colleagues and personalities of Czech cultural life gathered for the final farewell.

František Laurin was one of the personalities who significantly influenced the form of Czech theater in the second half of the 20th century. His domain was detailed psychological theater, a direction characterized by sensitive work with actors, an analytical approach and respect for the dramatic text.

In addition to professional theater work, he was also actively involved in amateur theater for many years, for which he had great love. As a director, teacher and theater personality, he influenced the form of domestic theater and many generations of theater artists through his work.
