Funeral of director Dušan Klein
The Big Ceremonial Hall of the Strašnice Crematorium
We were honored to be able to hold the final farewell to director Dušan Klein. The public funeral took place in the Big Ceremonial Hall in Prague’s Strašnice Crematorium on Friday, January 21, 2022 at 11 a.m.
The eulogy was delivered by Klein’s student, director Jiří Strach. Musical accompaniment was provided by Petr Malásek. The director’s work was commemorated by a short memorial film projected on a screen in a packed ceremonial hall. Among the mourners were the director of Czech Television Petr Dvořák, actor Miroslav Donutil, actor Jaroslav Satoranský and many others.
Dušan Klein graduated from Prague’s FAMU, where he later taught. He has made an indelible mark on the memory of the Czech public, especially with the “Poet” trilogy with Pavel Kříž in the lead role.
The famous film director and screenwriter passed away after a long illness on January 9, 2022. He was 82 years old.
